Getting Started

Adding Your First Property

Walk through creating a property, adding units, and setting rent amounts.

Before you can do anything else — collect rent, create leases, track expenses — you need to add at least one property with units. Think of it as setting up the foundation.

How to add a property

  1. Go to Properties in the sidebar
  2. Click Add Property
  3. Enter the property name (e.g., "123 Main St" or "The Brewster House"), address, and property type (single family, multi-family, condo, etc.)
  4. Click Save

Adding units

Once your property is created, you'll add individual units. Even if it's a single-family home, you still need one unit — that's what tenants, leases, and charges are tied to.

  1. From the property page, click Add Unit
  2. Enter the unit number (or name), bedroom/bathroom count, square footage, and monthly rent amount
  3. Click Save

You can add as many units as you need. Each unit tracks its own tenant, lease, and payment history independently.

Tips

  • Rent amounts are in dollars — enter 1500 for $1,500/month, not cents
  • You can edit everything later — don't worry about getting it perfect the first time
  • Multi-unit buildings — add each apartment as a separate unit (e.g., Unit 1A, Unit 1B)
