Archiving a Property

What happens when you remove a property and how to handle it.

If you sell a property or stop managing it, you may want to remove it from your active portfolio. Domara preserves your historical data even after a property is no longer active.

Before you archive

Make sure all units in the property have:

  • No active leases — end or terminate any remaining leases first
  • No pending charges — resolve any outstanding payments
  • No open maintenance requests — close or resolve them

Historical data

Even after removing a property from your active view:

  • Past payment records remain in your bookkeeping
  • Expense history is preserved for tax reporting
  • Old lease documents remain accessible

Tips

  • Selling a property? — make sure to download any documents you need first
  • Taking a break from renting? — you can leave the property with no active tenants rather than archiving
  • Seasonal rentals — keep the property active and just manage lease start/end dates
